SUMMARY:Speaker Series Webinar POSTPONED-Cutting the Cord: Tax Implications of Expatriation
DESCRIPTION:Due to unforeseen circumstances\, “Cutting the Cord:  Tax Implications of Expatriation” is being postponed to a later date. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause\, and hope to see you at the rescheduled event. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n Webinar Description \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Please join us for the next installment in the InterActive Legal Speaker Series on a topic that may be foreign to some of us – expatriation. Clients are becoming more interested in this topic\, and this presentation will focus on the tax implications in detail. \n In this webinar\, attorney Sebastian Orozco will provide a detailed examination of U.S. tax issues affecting individuals who expatriate under the framework of Section 877A of the Internal Revenue Code and the newly finalized Section 2801 regulations.  He’ll outline the definitions and criteria for classification as a covered expatriate\, and the resulting tax consequences\, including the mark-to-market exit tax regime\, the treatment of pre-expatriation gifting\, and beneficial interests in trusts.   \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n We’ll learn about compliance requirements\, such as dual-status tax returns and Form 8854—including some of the penalties for non-compliance. Special attention will be given to the treatment of deferred compensation\, nongrantor trusts\, and tax-deferred accounts\, offering practical guidance for navigating the final year of U.S. tax residency. \n The materials also will explore strategic planning opportunities for long-term residents who are considering expatriation\, including treaty-based residency elections and pre-expatriation gifting strategies. The implications of the Section 2801 tax on covered gifts and bequests will be covered\, detailing how the tax is calculated\, reported\, and enforced. Examples will illustrate the tax treatment of distributions from domestic and foreign nongrantor trusts\, and the complexities that surround them. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n InterActive Legal Speaker Series Presents \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Sebastian Orozco Segrera \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Webinar Tips \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n After registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.\n Please note that space is limited in the live broadcast\, and we therefore recommend that you join early. SUMMARY:Complimentary Webinar: New Delaware DAPT Case and Asset Protection Planning
DESCRIPTION:Complimentary Webinar: Basis Planning After OBBBA\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n View Recording\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Webinar Description \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n In a recent Delaware asset protection case\, In Re CES 2007 Trust\, a self-settled domestic asset protection trust (DAPT) was upheld. The settlor had some foot faults in the administration of the trust and the trust owned other entities\, but neither of those facts were fatal to the positive result. The court upheld the DAPT even though the settlor served as the trust’s investment advisor and as manager of real estate LLCs owned by the trust. This program will review the recent Delaware case and evaluate its import to asset protection planning generally.  The speakers will analyze the facts in the case and make specific recommendations to practitioners as to how to implement similar plans in the future. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n View Recording\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Meet Our Speakers \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jonathan G. Many clients will no longer face a Federal estate tax with the new $15M permanent exemption. As a result\, income tax planning\, and in particular maximizing income tax basis\, may be a focus of increased attention\, which triggers several questions: \n \n \n • In addition to upstream planning with GPOAs\, what about downstream planning with gifts?• How do we reconcile that basis step up planning may conflict with traditional planning strategies of keeping assets in trust for a surviving spouse and others?• What can be done with existing credit shelter trusts\, SLATs\, and other irrevocable trusts that are outside of anyone’s gross estate?• Can – and should – existing estate tax plans be unraveled?• How can powers of appointment be effectively used to increase options for basis step up?• Can upstream as well as downstream planning be used?• How will gift planning be different\, after OBBBA? \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Join us for an online webinar to consider these questions and the post-OBBBA planning shift. \n \n View Recording\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Meet Our Speakers \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jonathan G. SUMMARY:Speaker Series Webinar-Cutting the Cord: Tax Implications of Expatriation (Rescheduled)
DESCRIPTION:View Recording\n \n PLEASE NOTE:  If you were registered for this webinar when it was originally scheduled on August 6th\, you have been automatically registered for the rescheduled date of August 25th. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Webinar Description \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Please join us for the next installment in the InterActive Legal Speaker Series on a topic that may be foreign to some of us – expatriation. \n \n View Recording\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n InterActive Legal Speaker Series Presents \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Sebastian Orozco Segrera \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Webinar Tips \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n After registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.\n Please note that space is limited in the live broadcast\, and we therefore recommend that you join early.
