In this webinar, panelists will discuss best practices for estate planners. The panelists will cover issues ranging from common tax planning strategies and important issues to consider, to the formalities associated with signing documents reflecting the planning. This esteemed group of panelists share their insights drawing upon years of experience as well-regarded planners and trust and estate litigators.
Among the topics to be covered include:
- Choice of marital deduction formula;
- Filing an estate tax return even if not required;
- Section 754 elections;
- Choosing fiduciaries;
- Substance versus form;
- GRATs and installment sales;
- Decanting and modifying trusts; and
- Document execution issues, including whether to staple and initial pages.

Teresa Bush joined InterActive Legal in 2007 and serves as Director of Education and Support Services.
Ms. Bush has been licensed to practice law since 1991, and focused her practice exclusively on issues of estate and gift tax planning, probate, charitable planning, and estate and trust administration. She began her practice in a small law firm, planning for clients of all levels of wealth. Thereafter, she practiced for a number of years in the Tax Section of Kelly, Hart and Hallman, P.C. in Fort Worth, Texas, and as an estate and gift tax consultant for the Dallas office of Ernst & Young, in both cases focusing on planning for very high net worth clients.
Ms. Bush received her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, where she was a research assistant for Professor Stanley M. Johanson. She studied at Edinburgh University and the London School of Economics prior to obtaining a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Rice University in Houston. While studying abroad, she worked as an intern for a Member of Parliament in the British House of Commons.
Ms. Bush taught legal research and writing as a Teaching Quizmaster in law school, and later taught estate planning extension courses for American College of Financial Services CLU candidates. She has presented several online webinars on estate planning and drafting topics, and is the author or co-author of a variety of estate planning articles.

Bruce D. Steiner is an attorney with Kleinberg, Kaplan, Wolff & Cohen, P.C., in New York City, and is a member of the New York, New Jersey and Florida Bars. He has over 40 years of experience in the areas of taxation, estate planning, business succession planning and estate and trust administration. He is a frequent lecturer at continuing education programs for bar associations, CPAs and other professionals. He is a commentator for Leimberg Information Services, Inc., is a technical advisor for Ed Slott’s IRA Advisor, is a member ofthe editorial advisory board of Trusts & Estates, for many yearswrote a column for the CCH Journal of Retirement Planning, and has written numerous articles for Estate Planning, BNA Tax Management’s Estates, Gifts & Trusts Journal, Trusts & Estates, the Journal ofTaxation, Probate & Property, TAXES, the CPA Journal,the CLU Journal and other professional journals. He has beenquoted in various publications including Forbes and the New YorkTimes. Mr. Steiner received an A.B. from Cornell University, a J.D.from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and an LL.M. in taxation fromNew York University, where he was a Gerald L. Wallace scholar.
